In mid-December we were asked by a finance company to inspect three large construction assets for one of their customers that had asked for a payment holiday on their current finance agreements.

Their customer had advised them that all three assets would be in their yard the following week ready to be inspected.

However, when we contacted the company to arrange the inspections they confessed to us that two of the assets were working in France and had been for the past 6 months.

We inspected the other asset and then sent our full report to the finance company. They took appropriate action as under the terms of the finance agreements the assets should not have been moved out of the UK without written permission.

The moral of this case study is that whilst your customer may be telling you they are in possession of your assets, they have no option but to tell the truth when approached by Inspector Nasset to carry out a physical asset inspection.
